Axe Throwing – where does it come from?
Axe Throwing is a sport, which arrived to Europe, being incorporated from America (from Canada to be precise). In 2006 in Toronto a bunch of people hosted the first amateur contest in axe throwing, which soon after gave birth to a professional league. Shortly thereafter the sport became popular also across the southern border, and then spreading out to Europe, incl. Poland. Primarily, the discipline came from the Viking times, which inspired us to resemble this climate in our Bad Axe club. You don’t have to be a Viking to handle the axe, but it’s always nice to enrobe a close copy of the Viking armor.
Axe throwing – how does it work?
The rules are pretty straightforward! Axe Throwing is all about throwing an axe to the target and scoring as many points as you can. Similarly to darts or rifle shooting, there is an aiming target with several rings on it, constituting variously awarded areas. Basically anyone can throw, regardless of the age or sex (very often ladies turn out to be better than men). Remember only about proper handling and rotation – the keys to success! The competition takes place on several lanes, so that we 20 people can play simultaneously. Of course everything under the tutelage of professional instructors, who will explain you the rules and provide a safe entertainment. Every lane is properly secured, so that to eliminate any possible ricochets or reflections.
